Survival Digital Kit

This is my digital kit. I suggest it to you for your scientific communication pleasure.

Website: I use wordpress as a blog/web. Use and create a blog where you can post and share.

Twitter: no doubt: create or have an account at I manage it outside the twitter application: using hootsuite, which allows me to track multiple profiles and also my Facebook (just personal) account and pages.

Professional CV - is a must. Please create your account and ask for connections to people you know.

Photos: I reccommend This notwithstanding, there are other good places, e.g. Instagram, because it is easy to store pictures taken by smartphones.

Videos: Indeed, you should have an account with

Storing presentations and pdf documents: probably is the best. I also use though.

Creativity and ideas - Mindmapping: I use mindmapper, but it may be too expensive. Mindmeister, Freemind and others are sound alternatives.

Office and productivity: Nothing beats Microsoft Office, yet LibreOffice is very good too - and it's free (as in free beer).

Navigating my files. If you use windows, please take a look at the Total Commander application ( It's great.

Web browser: indeed, Chrome is the best of the best.

Mail manager: Indeed, Gmail is the best of the best.

Cloud services: Google in general, but I also use DropBox and Did I mention that you should keep copies of your work, pictures, videos, files, etc etc?!

Personal photo service: Instagram, but I also use directly flickr. In any case, all photos end in flicker. I pay a small fee for unlimited space.

Social Media Accounts Manager: nothing beats HootSuite. It can deal with (almost) everything.
